Are you ready for the scariest event of the year? Aside from the presidential election, that is... It's the Annual Bowden Halloween Costume Party!

We've been throwing this spooky shindig for 13 years! That's like a Halloween decade!

Mark your calendars, reserve your favorite babysitter, and most importantly, get your (required) costumes ready.

To celebrate our 13th year, here are 13 questions you can ask yourself to prepare for the party:

• Am I prepared to win a prize for my costume in a category which may or may not include "best pair", "funniest costume", or "best impression of an inanimate object"?
• Will I win a delicious treat in the ridiculous cake walk of doom?
• If I lose again this year, how will I plot my revenge?
• Have I adequately exercised my buzzer finger in order to win fabulous prizes?
• Am I prepared regale the other guests with my anecdotes, wit, and charm?
• Will I be forced to wear a loaner costume because I didn't believe that costumes are actually required?
• Will I get there early enough to find parking within a quarter mile of the party?
• Will my costume be so awesome that I won't be able to sit down?
• Do I have my recipe ready to bring the most elaborate dessert this party has ever seen?
• Will I break my diet to eat a cookie shaped like a brain?
• Will I convince my spouse that their outfit "doesn't look ridiculous at all"?
• Have I marked my calendar, being fully committed to enjoy the best Halloween party in the greater Portland area?
